So I've recently got the camera bug back in me and instead of going into more debt (enough posts about that, eh?) to buy a new digital SLR, I pulled out my old Canon AE-1 Program. I bought this thing in '84 and it's been stored for well over 10 years now.
I have taken a few rolls of pictures with it to make sure it still works. Maybe you saw the pics of the river I posted end of May?

Anyway, I want to get an auto winder for it and have been looking over ebay, and I have a few questions for anyone who knows these camera's.

1. Power Winder A
2. Power Winder A2
These are ranging from a few $$ up to $80. But what is the difference?? Would either work on the AE-1 Program?

3. Canon Motor Drive MA
I see this one for about $50 and it seems this can shoot up to 8 FPS (frames per second). I believe the two above shoot at 2 FPS. Does this one work on the AE-1 Program.

4. I also see at lest two auctions for AE-1 which have the power winders included as well as other lens and accys. And I may be able to get at the same or lower price than the winder themselfs.
Would the lens for the AE-1 work on the AE-1 Program?

and a final question..... any BABC member have a winder they would like to get rid of?

Thanks
Chris

I have an AE-1 Program myself. No power winder though. So I can't help with those questions. The AE-1 lens' will work on the AE-1 Program.

I would go for the package deal with the power winders, if the auction price is right.

For the sake of closeur (that and I'm trying to avoid doing any work this morning), I ended up getting a Canon Power Winder A2 and a Vivitar Series 1 Macro Zoom Lens 70 - 210mm for $43 including shipping.

Tried them out over the weekend and all work great. Though I wasn't looking for a lens, I really like it. It's a bit heavyier than my other zoom, which is an 80 - 200mm with no macro. And I also have a 50mm wide angle with macro. This Vivitar almost replaces both of them.

Cheers!
