Front porch, basement, second story of the house in some cases... I really feel for those affected by the flooding.

I figure I'll count my blessings and be quiet that my only flooding issue is wondering when the waters will receed enough that I can actually see the ramp and be able to launch again.

At Shelbyville we are using the high water ramps.
They put them in in 1995.
The next year the Army Corp cut funds for ramp maint.
SInce then no clearing as happened between the high water ramps and the normal pool height. For 13 years nothing has happened but trees and bushes have grown up on the water's edge.
There are 12 inch diameter trees now submerged @ the ends of these ramps.
Thank good ness for all the Volinteer non-local boaters who have launched right into these forrests.
Fun to watch and they don't believe you when you tell em.
"I drove 200 miles to boat I AM BOATING!"
That usually lasts 3 minuites till they back down and launch.

I drive to the lake and stop in the parking lot. I prep the boat, wife preps the kids. Kids go in boat with Dad as mom pulls us around and backs into the water. Trim down, fire up and lean over bow to unhook the strap while it idles. Quick check of gauges and ease it in reverse. Wife backs up another foot, taps brakes, boat slides off. Quick thumbs up and she heads for parking lot. I gently pull away from the ramp and let it idle while I get the top up. When she gets to the dock, touch and go. Average time on ramp, <2min launch. Retrieve I have to hop out and winch, so its <3min.

When we first started boating I did both, then I told my admiral she had to do one thing or the other...she is now incredible in backing in the trailer. We are a smooth team, the truck backs down and I am off the trailer in about a minute, and it's about 2 minutes from when she hits the bottom of the ramp and the boat is on, secured and we are gone.

It kills me to see the number of uneducated folks prepping boats or holding conversations on the ramps, ahead of people who know what they are doing.

p.s. that Exit 192 off I57 (Coles County Road) is the best route to Lake Shelbyville yet!

This past weekend at Table Rock, we kept launching for m the parking lot of the launch ramp at Campbel Point, as the ramp is WELL under water.

We tied to shore over some campsites too.

Progress was made. At one point, Friday afternoon, The Admiral pulled the trailer to the "ramp", u-turned it away from shore, and did a VERY nice backing job while I drove the boat arround.

The reason for the forced swap I do not recall, but she did it just fine.

Yes. I did congratulate her on a job well done, but i did all further trailer backing all weekend.

I always am the one to back the trailer into the water, both launching and retrieving. My scenario is very similar to Jason's. Not much time spent in either the launching or retreiving of the boat.

What is your time from start to finish? Backing up, placing boat in water, pulling empty trailer out, parking, walking back to boat with blower on?

Not to signal you out but people that have cute admirals holding a dock line while the captain does it all is irrating when the line at the ramp is waiting for you. Now having an admiral that helps out during the whole process is HOT.

I know quite a few people, myself included, who can put in faster with one than most people do with two or more. It just comes down to organization.

My son and I have it down like a swiss watch. Pull up to the lake from the road and the boat is off the trailer and in the water in about 10 minutes including setting up the biminis. Retreiving is just as quick. I think it'd take at least that long by myself.

Now that I've installed the collapsable wake board tower, the time has gone up to 20 minutes, but I expect that to fall to maybe 15 as we get quicker at setting it up.
