I can't believe so many of you do not have help from your wife at all. I would not let that happen. When we decided to buy a boat, I told my wife that she needs to know everything that I do. So, she can drive the boat, back the tow vehicle and even trailer it all the way home.
My wife can get it into the slip. Not as good as my best, but no worse than my worst!

And just to make Capn Morgan happy, my mom loads the 30' Chaparral cruiser and the 26' Chap cuddy whenever they go anywhere. And she does it at low tide, high tide, current, and wind, and does an excellent job. Even when I am with them, I just stand aside and they do it like the "pros" that they are.

Coming up on 20 years Justi....
Our 6 month anniversary was the day we picked up our Sundowner...and I do it all. I told her she had to learn before we got a bigger boat. She'll learn it someday...its just overcoming that fear!
I do it all, back the boat in the water, she will pull it and tie up. I park the tow vehicle start the boat warm it up. then come back I dock and tie up , back down trailer, power boat on trailer and off we go.

I'll drive from prep area and back down ramp about 1/2 way. Then, I'll climb in boat and admiral will back down remainder of ramp. I'll drive boat off and she'll go park TV/trailer. While waiting for her I'll usually float around out of everyone's way near the ramp. When I see her and kids walking down, I'll pull up to a spot at courtesy dock and they'll jump in.
Retrieval is nearly opposite. I'll pull up to dock to let everyone off boat. Admiral will go get TV/trailer, pull around and back it down ramp. Over the years, she's gotten very good at backing the trailer down the ramp! Meanwhile, I'll be floating out near ramp getting thing put away for tow home. Once I see she's back down ramp I start idling to ramp to load boat. She'll pull up out of the way so we can finish getting all ready to tow home. I drive home and back boat back into storage area.

Must be nice. When we trailered, I did it all. The wife knew how, but it was faster and easier if I did it.

Its not that I couldn't get people to help me. I just find its easier and faster with me doing everything. I can have the boat on or off the trailer, faster than a lot of the couples doing it at any ramp I go to.
I will say, however, I am a bit of a control freak.

Depend where we are, but typically, I'll square the truck up, and let the wife back it down, then go park.
Occasionally, I'll back the truck down and let her back the boat off. She's getting better at both. Her biggest problem is coming back to dock without fenders.????

See the wife learned back in 2002 to drive the TV. She did this since the kids then 2 years and 5 months would get in the boat with me and then she returned to the a/c and peacefulness of the TV until the boat was ready to be backed down the ramp. Who was the smart one, not me:)

I get boat off trailer first time of a trip as she is cold-blooded and I do my leak-checks as soon as she is idling. The Admiral drives and parks the truck.
The rest of trailer on and off'ing, the Admiral drives Lowrider, and I back the truck.

Couldn’t agree more. One of the most proficient launches I see at ramps is by a guy doing it himself.
It is usually a fisher-type with his “stuff” together. Dock line tied to the bow or a front/cleat, other end tied to the back of the truck somewhere. He floats the boat, hops out, ties the boat the dock, parks the truck & and he is gone. I use this method when alone and it works great.
