Some update pics..
Here's the trial fit for the shelf where the medicine chest was.. notice the rectangular cutout above the sink... uh huh, pulled the side splash off and a huge chunk of the wall came off! Also, notice between the bottom of the mirror and the top of the backsplash, that butt-ugly gold-tone aluminum strip. We're putting in all new chrome so I have NO idea what I'm going to do here.. tiling over it seemed like a great option, but as I said, too much edge at the bottom of the mirror..

Shelf in and complete... I wanted to put a glass shelf about 1/3 down from the top, but we have 2 3x3 oil paintings my youngest daughter painted that are tropical, so those are going up inside the shelf

Early in the project, dropped ceiling with 28" flourescent, and that old plastic sheeting for light covers... so 80's.. ripped out and re-routed wiring.

Installed 2 recessed can lights.

Ceiling drywalled, retextured, painted and complete

New overhead lighting... not my favorite choice, but hey! I'm just the laborer!

Nice improvements...... except for that light the laborer wasn't too fond of wink

From the looks of it the easiest way to fit the mirror is to pull it off the wall, get a new chrome or stainless bottom track and re glue it 3/4 inch higher.
Looks like you've got room above the mirror that it would still fit under the window.

N2B,

Over the years, I've pulled quite a few (8 or 9?) mirrors off the wall after having been attached with mirror mastic similar to yours. Its a slow process, but it can be done pretty easily.

Before removing the mirrors, I used masking tape or blue painter's tape (2" wide variety) and taped the mirrors in multiple directions. Then, while wearing heavy gloves and safety glasses, I would use various putty and drywall taping knives to start and gently tap them between the mirror and the wall - just enough to get some wood shims behind them. I'd work my way around the mirror a couple of times increasing the thickness of the shims or if possible, I'd slide small pull bars behind the mirror.

Eventually the mastic would let go and the mirror would just pop-off. Never cracked or dropped one. Sometimes it peeled the paper off the drywall, but most times I was covering it with another mirror anyway so it didn't really matter. Other times, and usually when they would be visible, the big globs of black mastic had to be sanded down with a belt sander and then feathered out with joint compound. I never had the backing come off the mirror, but I wasn't reusing the mirrors anyway - they got donated to Habitat for Humanity.

If you're set on reusing the mirror, rehanging it may be a little difficult with the large globs of mastic on the back. New mirrors are pretty inexpensive, even if custom sized and beveled. I personally like framed mirrors for the bath....

Justification, For sure there is room to move the mirror up, but I'm not sure pulling that mirror off is what I want to tackle... there are no retainer clips on the sides, so it has to be glued to the wall... I'm afraid the adhesion points would put stress on those areas that aren't glued and create cracks and/or breaks.

Water-'Mirror'-Dog beat my post.. I don't have any room on the sides to get any type of shim between the mirror and wall. Money is the issue, still no job, so forced to leave well enough alone as far as the mirror is concerned.
Thanks for all the great input tho... trust me, I wanted to get rid of that mirror from the get-go, if nothing else than to make my job easier!!!!

Ahhh, didn't realize you didn't have access from the left side which makes it harder, but not impossible. If you're willing to take a chance... I've removed a "glued" mirror with access along only one edge. I used 10" taping knives and tapped them in at the top. The handles on the taping knives are sort of tapered/wedge shaped where they meet the blade. So, I tapped them until I could actually get the handles between the wall and mirror. Then, I used two 4 or 5 foot long 1x3s and just levered the mirror off the wall. Good thing I kept going 'cause I couldn't get my taping knives back out. Oh, and careful of your fingers - I got one caught behind the same mirror. Its a little flat now, but works well as a spoon....

Right! There is also the well placed rock or hammer that slipped. Then its an insurance claim. But the deductible is probably more than the mirror plus the 7 years of bad luck. Oh, and the bad karma with the false insurance thing. Nevermind. My name is Earl.

A few years ago, I "installed" a couple of grab handles in my in-laws' shower. There were 12 screws. Guess which one went through the water pipe in the wall behind? Yep, number 12.

Anyway, the only way we could get to the copper pipe was to get a glazier out and pull the mirror off the bathroom wall that is on the other side of the wall adjoining the shower. They came out, put their suction cup glass carriers on it, and 30 seconds later, it was off the wall. All adhesive stuck to the mirror.

We fixed the pipe, and waited weeks for the wall to dry out. Then, patched the drywall behind the mirror where the adhesive had pulled it off the wall. We hung the mirror by using the alumnum rail at the bottom and screw-in mirror clips at the top. Did this so that if the pipe fix leaked again, we could get if off easily.

I don't remember how much it cost on a Sunday afternoon to have the glazier come out, but it was easy from what I could see.

vessel and faucet installed.... almost there!

And IT WORKS!

No Leaks..

What's left: paint and install baseboard, new toilet, new wash towel bar, hand towel bar, and tp holder... then re-decorate..
