Stepping out the front door at 8am on a summer morning,
the heat and humidity hits like a sauna. 75 and sticky at 8am!?!
Get to the ramp at 9am, 80 degrees and pitifully humid.
After 30 seconds of getting the boat prepped for launch,
we are sweating and red-faced.
The kids are putting their life jackets on and complaining about the extra layer.
The youngest is complaining that she has a hard time breathing because of the life jacket and the heat.
After launch we put the bimini up, but we are all still hot.
The first normal op zone is a reprieve.
Then another no wake zone and the heat and sticky air hits again.
On plane, on the bay is somewhat cool – even with the inferno sun beating down.
Even if we stop for a swim at our island, the water is pizz warm, 80+ degrees.
On the way home...
After making it through the last few no-wake zones, we are hot, tired and all pretty miserable.
We stay composed during retrieval, but we are all hating the heat and miserable humidity at this point.
The air conditioning in the car feels so good!!!
When home, we step in to the oasis of our central air.
I don’t want to leave the house to flush and clean the boat, but I do.
The wretched beating sun...
I soak myself with the hose while scrubbing the hull – clothes and all.
YES! It can be too hot (and humid) to boat!
I absolutely hate summer in this Hades state.
October can’t come fast enough
Someday my summers will be spent on cool lakes in Maine & only my winters will be spent in this oppressive state.
