THis past weekend I pumped some grease into the bearings on thetrailer and got water and contaminated grease out. So it is time to repack the bearings and I will replace them while I am doing the work.
I found out the trailer originally came with the EZ lube system from Dexter.
Does anyone have any experience with this system over the bearing buddy type system. My only concern is right under the rubber plug is the grease, whereas the bearing buddy has the metal plate held in by a spring.
Thoughts?

I've got the EZ lube. I don't know what you mean by the grease is right behind the plug. There's a zerk fitting and the grease is beyond that.
I like these because you can do a complete lube change just by pumping the grease in. No spring or cap to fail, just put more grease in from time to time. I give it a pump or two before any road trip and the bearings are barely warm whenever I check them, never have they been close to hot.
is there a washer that the zirk sticks through so the old grease squeezes around the edge. I have not taken them apart yet so I don't know all the parts of the system.

No, the grease all ends up in the axle somewhere. That is a downside, you never see that you've replaced the grease. I've got a manual around here somewhere that said how many pumps to completely change the grease, I'll have to see if I can find it.
Must be a slightly different version than the pic above since it shows the grease coming back out the wheel end. I guess I'll find out when I take them apart to repack them and replace the bearings.

Those are exactly like mine, silverbullet. And yes, the grease is supposed to come out around the front bearing into the dust cap. I think the theory is to push water out the front. It's not a castle nut and cotter pin, but I'm drawing a blank on what they are eactly.
As a side note, I was told to NOT put bearing buddies on these. Something about grease not getting to the back bearing.
On those, if you switch between 2 different brands of grease with different colors, when you seen the new color coming out, you have flushed out all the old grease.

Similar concepts except the sure lube dumps the grease into the axle tube and the ez-lub pushes it out the front side.
