Anyone know of a security camera setup where the cameras transmit a wireless signal to a secured recorder?

I'm thinking of doing something like that for the boat. I'd like to have 2-3 cameras that I could mount on the steel girders that support the roof. The recording unit would be put inside the boat somewhere.

I've seen wired systems that have night vision, motion sensing recording and other features, but none that are wireless.

I'm sure they exist but...

1) Wireless or Wired, you're still going to have to run a cable to it. The wireless cameras still need power.

2) The wireless signal would not be as reliable--it's not a perfect technology. It's prone to interference and jamming. Every left your wireless computer hooked to a wireless router for a long period of time and notice it had dropped and reconnected to the wifi network?

Just some thoughts!

I think they make battery powered wireless webcams. They would transmit to a laptop/desktop and record as necessary.

Costco has a pack of 3 or 4 you can buy for less than $200 I think. Don't know the specs, but they are wireless.

How deep are your pockets?

I have a few of these in my house, not really for security but so my wife can watch the dogs.

The work very well, have a built in web server and dynamic DNS service. This way I can pull up the cams from any browser. In your case you'd need some type of NEMA enclosure.

Axis also makes a recorder appliance

Probably overkill for your purpose but cool none the less.

These will work, and it more cost effective for local recording.
