i had him do hull, systems, oil analysis of engines (and generator on one boat), as well as a thorough seatrial. i'm not sure if he does full engine surveys or not. since we lost both engines on the first boat during the seatrial, it wouldn't have mattered anyway. which brings up a good point. what i learned from that experience was to do a seatrial myself BEFORE engaging a surveyor. at least that way if it's truly a lemon, or if it's a new type of boat you're looking at and you decide you don't like the way that type rides, you can walk away without investing in a survey.
