The long awaited (at least by me) arrival of FloScan's NMEA2000 fuel flow metering system is now upon us.

I see on the website it is now available. I had information it would be available a few months ago, but I guess things get delayed.

Anyway, what I find of benefit for this system is that it works with open return line fuel systems, not unlike diesel systems. In fact, this system is made for diesels, but according to Floscan, it will work with my Crusader engines that have a return line to the tank.

Don't have any info on availablity or pricing yet, but I expect to have this info soon.

I just ordered a Lowrance LMF-200, fuel flow probe and paddle wheel probe. I'll only need to save 52 gallons of gas to pay for it. That would mean a .25 MPG improvement, overall, for one season. I hope it'll pay for itself sooner than that.

If you consider all of the other 'percs' of that setup (like being able to monitor fuel used, fuel remaining, etc) then it may help pay for itself in utility.

I have the LMF-400 on my new boat with the NMEA2000 bus integrated into my other instruments. After living with it a while, I don't know how I ever lived without it.

I plan to replace my gas gauge with it. Looking forward to playing with it. May get the trim tab indicators as well.

NMEA2000 is almost the ultimate in gadgetry - at least for a boat.
