If is is the 5.0 Ltr small block it should be on the port side, all the way back by the flywheel and mounted vertically. You can get a kit that will allow you to move the oil filter to a more accessible location. Both Merc and Volvo sale them.

The above link give you an idea of how the remote oil filter adapter works. Not sure if this is the one for your application. This is for a 5.0 ltr injected about the age of yours. Is a Mercruiser.

Thank you both Parrothead and DeepV. Now I just have to go down to the lift and find it. I know the fuel filter is at the forward, starboard side of the engine. I felt all around the aft port side. I know that I'm going to put that remote filter for easier changes.
