if they are on the out side will you have to redo your covers? and have to put reinforcements in the cover for the added strain and wear points on the cover.

I would mount them inside, at a 45 degree angle just in front of the bow seat, rather than horizontally as you have them in your picture. Also, if you did mount them as I said, I would only have them about half as long as they currently are.
If you are committed to the ones you show, then mount them topside.

I like it on top.
Ditto on the pipe isulation; I use it on my bimini when I lower it for trailerint long distances. Works great. Just don't get the type that has the edges that seal together.
