Any specs on those, couldn't find anything on the site readily available. We go through a bunch of cameras here as I work with cavemen it would seem. Something like that may stand a chance.

The Ricoh is a tough little camera, it has some nice specs, but they come at a premium. Release date this May for approx. $693.

As an alternative that is just a bit tougher, good boating camera, and decent specs, look at the Olympus 1030SW
SHOCKPROOF (6.6FT).
WATERPROOF (33FT).
FREEZEPROOF (14°F).
CRUSHPROOF (220 LBF).
I am considering this one for a decent point and shoot camera that will handle boating, snowmobiling, beach use and not have to worry about it getting ruined during outdoor activities. Retail is $399, but I have seen it as low as $275.
A good value IMO, and I have had good luck with my current Olympus camera.

How much zoom do you need? I do think the internal lens designs like the Olympus that the Capn listed are the most "caveman resistant". You can find this style camera at a much lower price than the Olympus from Fujifilm, Nikon, and Samsung. But they won't take AA batts and they won't be superzooms. For a caveman superzoom try the Fuji S700. At least it has a fixed mount lens (no retraction whizz to bind up).

Good point Kelly. I don't think I would feel comfortable giving a $300 to $700 camera to a caveman either. Something much cheaper would make more sense.

Maybe this is what you need to buy for the Neanderthals' at work.

One of the neaderthals would be my boss. He has dropped more cameras than I care to mention, one went into a water tank where it was subsequently sucked up by a 75hp pump. I don't think any will withstand that, but just about everyone's cameras have broken screen in the back and knobs missing, etc. Looking for the "tough book" of cameras.

On a side note, I had one guy keep complaining about everyone borrowing "his" camera and that no one would give it back and he wanted a new one. I bought him a pink Barbie camera and told him he didn't need to worry about anyone taking it.

WM, did you ever think of taking out an insurance policy with Geico on the cameras? I heard it was so easy , a caveman could do it. grin

Samsung must have seen that as a market trend. Most of their cameras are now pink ...

Supply your own caption! Seen at the recent Photokina show. The camera sites have lots of reports on new cameras at this show. One example -
