BTW: Good job so far. There's probably, a fine line to walk to ensure usability/purity of BABC as a boating site, while not diluting it too much. Something you'll have to monitor, especially capturing useage/post data and maybe deleting those 'special interest forums' in the future that go stale...

I did something similar once in the way of This Posting.

Maintaining such things is a bit laborious, and I am not much for things that give me yet more work to do.

Bookmarking them as you see them makes it easier going forward, but to find them all from the past is a very time consuming and painstaking process.

If someone ever wanted to search for and aggregate all those diamonds in the rough and then list them in a posting, I am all for it.

The main difficulty with Hall Of Fame threads is that most threads end up a ramble. Only a small part of the thread is on topic, and deserving of the Hall Of Fame. Now that could be managed through the miracle of editing. But that would be a whole lot more work too.

At one time there was a proposal for Expert Panel threads. Where only a preselected set of members could contribute to a topic. A thread that not everybody can post on. With the hope that those few members on the Panel could find it in their good graces to stay on topic. This can already be done, in part, with a multi-member PM. But of course, PMs can not be made visible to the public. I still think this is a valid game plan. But it would require a lot more work from our Admin. Plus rounding up the necessary victims for the Panel.
