City Nixes Florida Topless Charter Fishing Boat Service.

FORT PIERCE, Fla. — City officials in Fort Pierce have sunk future voyages with a charter fishing service that offers topless woman aboard.

Smokin' Em Charters was told to leave the city marina for violating its family-friendly atmosphere.

The husband-wife team of Kathi and Harold Coombes has run the company for eight years and started offering charters with bikini-clad or topless women in January.

In addition to regular boating duties, the women also prepare food and drinks.

The Coombes defended the tours. They said the women come aboard boats fully clothed and don't undress till the boat is three miles from shore.

Since being forced to leave, Smokin' Em Charters has moved to another Fort Pierce marina.

We went on a sailing excurision on a 75' catamaran in St Martin and the female staff only wore bottoms. This was a very nice excursion and don't remember anyone complaining.

I insist that all of my guests who come aboard go topless until the day my 65 yr old mother came aboard and my wife insisted that I explain the captains rules.

Wonder if you can catch crabs on that fishing trip?

I heard they were moving to a new marina, but fighting the town's decision.

The article I read said the operation was working out of a municiple marina. They have since moved to a private marina. Same town or not, I do not know.

If you guys want to take up a collection for the price of a day trip aboard this charter I will volunteer to head down there, find them, go fishing with them, and give a first hand members report with pictures if they will allow it.

Just a thought so we can quit speculating.
