We have a pair of tanks mounted to the swim deck, under the slide. Been considering putting them under the flybridge just so they're not sticking out like a sore thumb...

I would like to see photos of propane tanks on the swim platform of a planning power cruiser. Thanks, fellas.

Maybe you could take a couple of your tanks down to your boat, get her up on plane, and take a few pictures to illustrate what you wish to see.

I do not hang on at 30 mph to the safety rail that Monterey provides on a 330 SY model to do that right now. Maybe when I get older. But a good thought. Thanks.

I don't know how else to get pictures that you asked for.

Some precautions like a propane sniffer can be installed in the area nearest a potential spark.

Or have a propane locker built for your boat. With the cover off.
Vented outside the boat.

With Cover on.

Or modify an existing locker to fit a propane tank like this. Also
vented outside the boat.

At normal atmospheric pressure and temperature, propane is a gas. It’s heavier than air, so it will tend to settle and collect in low spots, such as the bilge, cockpit, or cabin of a boat. That’s what creates the explosion risk when there is a propane leak, and that’s why propane storage locations must be designed to vent overboard, not inboard. This is absolutely crucial. Don’t cut corners here.

Finally, just tow the tank behind your boat. wink
