Keith, I saw the latest edition of the Armada on the road on a recent trip to Fla. Looking GOOD! What kind of mileage do you get with yours and what engine? Well at this point in the thread hi-jacking it may be a good thing. CNY, I have the 5.6L V8, it's the only engine they put in the Armada's and Titans, though I think they've bumped HP a bit and gave them a "facelift" recently, mines an 04'. I get 14-15 MPG around town and a whopping 18 mpg on the highway I think I touch single digits with the boat behind it. We still like this truck after four years and 50,000 miles, seats 8, DVD player, awesome stereo, tow package with auto-level suspension, and the drivetrain is smooth as silk.

How does one put a price on safety? Say you can only "afford" a vehicle that has a three star safety rating, but you really want to protect your family? At what price do you place on that? Not throwing that at anyone, just curious how you guys feel, or if it is even a consideration. I knew someone once that went way overboard on a car because he felt it was the safest thing on the road. Turned out it was very safe as he couldn't afford to put gas in it, so it rarely went on the road. I am very aware of safety when purchasing vehicles. However, that doesn't mean you have to have a brand new one, or an expensive one. The safety equipment I won't buy a car without: 1. Size of vehicle. I won't buy a compact car, but I don't want to get in an accident in a pickup either. Full size car or SUV for me. 2. comfortable seat belts - your number 1 way to keep from getting hurt. 3. Airbags - All my newer cars have front, side and head airbags. 4. Stability Control - for a long time I wouldn't buy a car without antilock brakes - now I must have stability control - it makes a huge difference 5. DRL's and Automatic Headlamps - To me this is a safety item The only crash test rating I pay attention to is the 40 mph offset crash. Unfortunately it's not a government mandated crash, so the only published results is the Insurance Institute numbers.
