Kind of interesting evolution, maybe of the 60/76 series-features, or more likely the Etrex line

Larger screen, and thumbwheel HMI (not sure if I like that yet)

You tube CES Video

Looks like models pre-loaded for:
400C - Saltwater
400t - topo
400i - Inland Waters
300 - not pre loaded (device only w/ base maps?)

Series comparison

Gammin Colorado series mini-site

Interesting...

Still looking for a GPSMap type unit in a Nuvi form factor...

I just noticed a comment about the batteries being very short lived.

Why that format? Touch screens just get smudged with a lot of fingerprints.

But it is very easy to clean. I have touch screens in both my cars and the ease of use is ahead of any side buttons.

What he said....

The touch screen interface is yards easier/quicker to negotiate through features and menus, and the smudges/prints are negligible and easily cleaned. Ususally the screens are satin/matte anyway, which doesn't distract when a littel dirty, unlike a gloss screen.

And the larger screen in a smaller package is desirable.

It's coming...Magellan has the Crossover and I just saw a XOG from Lowrance...Garmin is just not paying attention.

Garmin's 5000 series has a touch screen, but you could buy a small boat for the price. The 15" model is over $6K at WM! ouch

We have a Nuvi in my wife's car and it works great, especially for the price.

I have the Lowrance XOG. It is nice for the car and you can use it as a handheld. I got this one because I could use it in the car and boat. I even bought chart plotting software that I can plug in for when I go to Table Rock.

This unit has a very short battery life. Like 2 hours.

One thing I did not think about was the fact that because it is a touch screen, it is difficult to see in direct sunlight. If your main use for the GPS is for your boat, I would stay away from one that is a touch screen.
