I find it hard to believe, but the government actually did something efficient. NOAA puts out notices about chart changes, but not everyone can get to them. And often the regular charts will be way behind the existing situations. NOAA has struck a deal with a private company that will allow them to print and sell to the public, up-to-date charts that include all the latest notices. You can evengo to a local vendor and they can print it out as you wait, as I understand it. The article was in BoatUS.
