Hey All,

Grandparents played a large role in my life. Still have one living 89 yr old grandmother. Lives out on the farm in Iowa on 240 acres and still keeps up the acreage around the house herself.

I go back each year to finish up books/taxes on the farm and meet with the farmer we coordinate with.

I always enjoy looking at old pics when I am there.

This time, I came across a photo of my grandfather's first boat.

I am wondering if any of you can help me identify it. I remember being out fishing on this one!

Thanks for your help.

Sure looks like a late 50's early 60's Glastron.

Here's a Classic Glastron page: http://www.classicglastron.com/gl-the-years-web.html

And specifically the 1957 model, with that cool detail on the outside of the gunnel:

Fiberglassics.com is another cool website for "oldies, but goodies".

What do you make of the squarish/rectangular shape to the motor?

Not unlikely that it would have been a Glastron since that is what he replaced it with.

His next boat was a 1969 Glastron V174 with a Volvo 250 Aquamatic and 140hp.

^^^^^^^

Maybe an Evinrude Lark, or even a Scott-Atwater, but my eyes aren't what they used to be...

Addicting, isn't it!

I'm partial to it, since I've owned some of the boats listed there.
