We typically stay up by Kimgberling at Indian Point but took a day trip down by where you are staying. I belive it around 48 miles from the dam down to the end of the lake if you head south after the last bridge. My kids loved the swing as well ages 9 and 10. It is best to go early to get a spot so you can be near the cliff. I might be able to dig up some photos later. You will love tablerock
If you are looking for a very nice cove for skiing, boarding, etc. Cow Creek Cove is one of the best spots I tried (suggested by others here). CCC is on the South side of the lake, SSW of Indian Point.
Sadly...no Katy has softball games 'til the first weekend in July. We've missed a bunch of stuff because of them over the years, but hopefully she's learned a few lessons about making commitments and following through with them. We love the lake so darn much that we just HAD to do a little something there this year!!

Ah...the sports commitments are important! You will be missed! Hopefully we will be down the weekend you all are there...if so we will give a shout out.
We'll be down the week of Sept 7. We went about this time last year and the weather was perfect. Low 80's with similar water temps. The rest of the summer is too hot and humid for us dry weather Coloradians. Long drive but definitly worth it.

We will probably be there. September and October are great times to be on the water. Still warm for swimming and very little traffic! Give a shout out when the date gets close.
It looks like it will take a long time to get anywhere populated. Last year we rented a house by Kimberling City, that was a good 35 minutes to the State Park, I would guess it will be at least double that from Cape Fair.
