First, next time you sell a boat, take everything you want to keep off before you show it or replace it with cheaper stuff. Lines, fenders, anchor, etc. should go with the boat.

Second, $1,000 ? If the boat is listed for $5,000, that's a big deal. If it's listed for more than $10,000, it's not. Sell it and move on. I'll be doing the same thing soon and once my new boat is in the marina, the other one will just be a monument to my earlier days of boating sitting on a trailer beside the house. I'll be paying for insurance and personal property tax aand it will be depreciating. Any value placed on a used boat is subjective, the true value is what someone else is willing to pay for it.

Actually Keith...that boat was at the same dealers that brokered my Rinker. But the deal on that boat is dead. The $31,500 was the absolute lowest price. That was still a little more than what our max budget for the new boat is. Plus, that price was only good through the Grand Rapids Boat Show which ended last Sunday.

Thanks ok...we have a lot of time and there are a lot of boats out there.

Congrats on the sale.
Just a thought...............
what better to do on a nice sunny Michigan day. Load up the crew and head for the Detroit Boat Show. I'd be willing to bet you will find a deal your looking for. It runs till Sunday.

That's the right attitude, the "right" one will come along. A little time on BoatTrader and some patience.

Most boats are finally sold in the spring, no matter when the deal was made.

Congrats WD -

IMO you made the right choice taking the deal. Your Rinker is now five year old and still at a slippery point on the depreciation curve. Unless you were in it for the long haul, a good time to unload.

Also, I suspect fuel prices are going to continue to have a neg effect on the small cruiser market this season.

Do you get all of the deposit if the deal does not close?

This is killing the small cruiser market. I have had a few dealers tell me this. I feel very good about our decision this morning.

I didn't read all the posts, but did notice you took the deal---good move IMO...

Our houseboat was on the market for a year or so, when we looked at it they'd dropped the price about 2 weeks prior by $20,000. And we ended up getting it for $25,000 off the LOWERED price! The buyers seemed happy with the deal regardless. I seen their payoff check, after the brokers and other assorted fees they took a beating. But in the boat's paperwork, I also saw what the monthly costs were with it just sitting in the water! Sitting on the market for 6 more months would've been brutal...

Keith, if you buy that 226 Wetdogg could buy your boat. FYI, we spent almost every Tuesday and Thursday on the Team Edition 226 last summer, great boat and love the set it and forget it speed control.

The happiest and saddest day for a boat owner is when they get rid of/get a new boat.

Congratulations on the sale.
