I ate my heart out, and it tasted better than eating crow. That is a nice looking rig. You're right, I wish I owned a tow rig but just can't justify it at this time because I only tow once or twice a year.

What does that have for an engine and trans, and what is it rated to tow?

Nice looking truck! Looks "tough".

Seems there was a little debate here once upon a time about the looks of the Titan. Or maybe it was another board?

Thanks all y'all. GFC, I had to call you out because I remember that thread some time ago about your opinion on the looks of the Titan (as CNY refers to). \:D

All Titan's have the 5.6L V8. It's rated @ 317 horsepower and 385 pound-feet of torque. It has a 5-speed automatic with tow mode. 9500 pounds is the tow rating with the 'big tow' package, which this has. It also has the off-road package so that adds some things like the rancho shocks, skid plate and electronic differential lock (I gots me a push-button posi-trac).

Rims/Tires: American Racing TorqThrustST/Nitto Terra Grappler AT 305/50R20 (which I've been told is basically the same thing as the Toyo Open Country AT)

That IS a sweet ride --congrats Chunder.
The blue will look VERY nice with the stripe on your boat. Can't wait to see pics of the whole package, and we still need to meet up at a local lake one of these days (I will be at Powell next weekend).

thanks sflub, i've actually been eyeballing that rim for a while... was thinking of getting them for the tahoe but never did, and when we got this I convinced the Mrs that we needed rims on it. \:D I've very stoked on the setup.

RockStar, we've got stuff going on this weekend, next weekend and then we're heading to Powell the weekend (Fri-Mon) AFTER labor day (but my parents are going and trying to talk us into it... we try to avoid the place on that weekend). I don't yet know if we're doing anything labor day weekend... you?

I can't wait to get it hitched up and towing the boat! Maybe I'll try to do that one evening up Parley's Canyon for kicks. \:D

It's OK to call me out on things like this. When I first looked it the Titan I didn't like it at all. That truck is sorta like a wart...it has grown on me. Just kidding.

That is a pretty nice towing capacity. I wonder what the other guys will do to match it?

In my research, there were 3 trucks consistently in the top 3 and depending on the source, there was a different winner of those 3. Motor Trend picked GM (Chevy specifically).
From Edmunds.com on GM:

Optional on all Chevy Silverados but the Work truck is the "Vortec Max" 6.0-liter V8 that makes 367 hp and 375 lb-ft. All V8s except the 4.8 feature Active Fuel Management that shuts down four cylinders under light-load conditions (such as highway cruising) to promote greater fuel economy. With the optional Max trailering package, tow capacity is 10,500 pounds.
You have to option the GMs up a ways to get where the Nissan already is. We drove a VortecMax equipped GMC and the Titan is so much more responsive, roomier, optioned better, better looking, torquey and fun (the Titan handles like a smaller truck).

Popular Mechanics (PDF) liked the Titan:

Edmunds actually likes the Tundra the best. We drove one but it wasn't worth more than $10k for us. And there were some things that bugged me a little with the Toyota--I don't know if I can get over the dash. But still a nice truck (go see RockStar's).

We looked at GM, Toyota, and Nissan and kept coming back to the Nissan. They can all really be so close on different variables that it comes down to the buyers' own preference. I actually really like the looks of the Ford but was VERY turned off by the rear seat and its real world power doesn't match up with Chevy, Toyota and Nissan. I'm really not a fan of the Dodge (although I've owned both a Durango and a Dakota in the past and did like them both)--a LARGE part of that is the tiny rear seat in the 'Quad Cab'. The MegaCab is just that--MEGA! Too much mega all around (even though the Tundra CrewMax is the same or bigger in the rear seat, the rest of the Tundra isn't so 'Max' as the Dodge is 'Mega').

So, for us it's the Titan. It has SOO many things we wanted. And while some reviews say there aren't many options, the options aren't confusing and are right on the money for us. We shopped HARD for the right Titan and finally found it--and the dealer happened to have a 64th Anniversary Sale ($64 over invoice) and the incentive ($5k off 2007s) that really helped us on the pricing. I even worked an additional couple C notes off of that. And we TOTALLY LOVE this truck! The Titan is just a frickin SWEET truck!

I really like the full size Nissan trucks. We currently have a Pathfinder right now with close to 100,000 miles. When we upgrade, we're considering the Armada, which is the SUV version of your Titan:)

Brent, you will love the Titan. I'm coming up on 3 years owning and several thousand miles towing and can tell you you will not regret your choice. If you don't plan on offroading the truck, maybe plan on some new tires at 30k, but otherwise, NICE!!!
