1 week till spring, it's 64 degrees out, oooh yeah! Been getting things ready, checking things out, so far all systems are GO! (for the most part! ;\) )

Got in a couple days ago & connected the engine battery, still had a good charge...

Got in today and connected the house batteries...volt meter showed exactly 12 volts...

Did a quick check of all the lights & other electrical, everything works...

Cranked the ignition over for 5 seconds to get fuel to the carb, stopped, gave the throttle a full push forward then back, blipped the starter again and she fired right up...

YEAH, BABY!!

I do have a couple of minor issues...

first, when I connected the ground cables to my house batteries, I was getting a small spark. Not exactly sure why, because EVERYTHING is OFF--all lights, switches, the main panel, ignition, EVERYTHING! So I have to track that down...

second, I attached (barely) my new diving deck!! Looks GREAT!! But I instantly discovered that the brackets are too small for this type of deck! The brackets are about 8" shorter than the width of the deck, and the wood needs to be supported across the entire width... Easy to fix with some 1/4" aluminum plate \:\)

If there was a lake nearby with some water in it, I'd be heading out TOMORROW!!! But they're all still empty and/or frozen over!! Is there anything worse than having a seaworthy vessel, and no SEA? \:\(

It was near 50 degrees today. We went yesterday to West Marine to get things for our boat. Will be able to work on the boat I hope tomorrow some. We still have a good month till we can take it out. Can't wait till then. We have to take the boat to the dearer in a couple of weeks. So they can finish prepping it for the start of the season

Antsy? Who's getting antsy. Certainly not me, sitting here after 2AM at BABC. Rix Kix is at the dealer getting some TLC, should be back home late next week. A week to finish cleaning, first short voyage of the season, etc, then off to Table Rock for a few days 3/26. Whoooooooeeeeee, we are close now!!

I was at the marina yesterday checking on the timing of my baby being ready. April 9th is the day. There was a thin coat of ice of the lake after the frezze we had on Friday.

This waiting is tuff on a guy.......

Oh - very.
At least I am playing with the boat. Yesterday, took son #1 to his soccer game, put a few beers on the boat, and got busy. She's sitting next to the garage with the tarps off, camper canvas up and a heater inside.

Just about every tool I own is layed out where the rear seats usually are.

The Shakespeare TV antenna is installed and the wiring run through the arch (that part is more fun than you can imagine).

The VHF is flush mounted and I re-ran the antenna cable to dress it more nicely.

The new chartplotter is wired and test fit, and has been fired up to be sure everything is working. I still have to put the GPS antenna up on the arch and run that cable through the arch, across the side of the mid cabin and up into the helm.

12V Power has been pulled for the signal booster for the TV antenna. The USB TV tuner is installed and I tested everything on the laptop computer that I'm going to use for my flat screen tv.

The Navman Fuel 2100 is installed in the dash, but the transducer wire isn't run yet. The Kidde Fire Monitor (was in the gauge spot where the 2100 went) is moved down just like on Al's website. THANKS AL!

Heading to the sport show today (there are boats there) and then back to work on my boat.

Antsy? Oh yeah. Completely. \:D

I've placed all my online orders, should be in this week

Took the camper canvas windows in yesterday to have screens made.

Pull the boat home next weekend to get ready for the long instalations I have coming!

I can't wait!

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, what about all the yardwork that needs to be done?? Clean/stain fence and deck, freshen up the landscaping edging and mulch, widen the driveway with bricks, relocate some trees... uhhhh \:\(

Geeze, looks like I need to get crackin. Only thing I have done so far is look at an installer manual for a windlass (have not ordered it yet though).

Well, I do have a half-finished cherry cockpit table in the garage.

Jeff;

Not sure you are aware of this, and maybe your TV antenna is not affected, but there is a recall by the USCG for powered TV antennas that can interfere with GPS antennas.

Here is a link to the recall:

http://www.uscg.mil/hq/g-m/moa/docs/11-02.htm

I am sure if you have one of the listed antennas, then you can get it replaced free.

Just to be on the safe side, my friend.

Thanks for the link Al. I checked the site and my antenna isn't on it. Whew! Buying it was the easy part. Installing it is harder than reading the numbers on my mastercard.
Here\'s a link to the Shakespeare 2025 if anyone is interested.

Mark - I'll get on the picture thing soon. I took them - just haven't uploaded them to my computer yet. I'll take some pictures of the mess that I've got going right now too. Vista Al's pictures always show a perfectly clean and organized work area.

Jeff, cropping photos does wonders. You should see my shop when I get done with a major project!

I was out yesterday for awhile....and Friday. Yesterday's run was just to warm up the engines and circulate the oil before I changed it. Nice way to spend the day...hanging around the docks tinkering with the boat, changed the oil, took down some Christmas decorations...in 70 degree weather. Italk2U and his Admiral came by on his boat and stopped to chat for a bit. He has a big block version of my boat and we're always doing one-upmanship in a friendly way ("You gotta see what I just bought....." \:D \:D ).

Then just before I left a couple I hadn't met before came by with a 270 Sundancer. We chatted for a bit and I found out next week he's trading it in for a brand spanking new 300 Sundancer.

That's two new 300's here in the last 2 weeks, plus a new Rinker 340. We had a boat show here about 3 weeks ago and it was the most successful show they've ever put on here. A neighbor is the promoter for the show and he told me they sold more boats at this show than they've ever done. This show drew over 11,000 people (weekend show) and had two new dealers (Sea Ray and Rinker).

And the Dem's say the economy is on its lips.....hmmmmmm....what's wrong with THAT picture.

I'm with Vista-Al. Highs still in the mid-30s. Lake still frozen. I haven't had the boat in before early May in the past, and don't expect this year to be any different. All I've done so far is order another section of dock and confirmed that it and hoist will be installed as soon as the lake thaws.
Fortunately, a little pond I fish has thawed, so give me a week or two and fish beware...

Off to buy more topside paint today. Just saw the people to measure up for new cushions. Gotta get a crane truck to bring my engine back. New swim platform, bow rail, toe rail & rubrails have to be re installed. Still a little glass work to be done. Every time I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel it turns out to be some *** holding a flashlight bringing me a list of more work that has to be done. When it is time to start waxing I'll almost be there. Gee I love boats!

I'll be taking the boat out on Thursday:

Partly cloudy. Highs in the upper 60s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph shifting to the southwest in the afternoon.

Decent forecast. We won't be doing any skiing or tubing, but it will be nice to get on the lake for a little bit!

I ordered a battery switch and cables. The cables have arrived, but the switch was backordered. As soon as the switch gets here, I'll be adding it along with a second battery.

Meanwhile, I gotta get my fence project completed so it doesn't get in the way of any boating!!!
