Good eye there Ken. I found out the hard way, when i spray painted the fender, that the rest of the van isn't white!
HB, I got stopped by a cop once, with the just the trailer hooked up. He thought I didn't have my seatbelt on. Just had to explain that it was the same color as my shirt.
Chunder, that's funny! Actually it has no seats back there. Just plywood covered by a truck bed mat.
The short story, i keep the boat in a slip. Was gonna cost $800 to initial bottom paint (i hate bottom paint) then $300 each spring after that. Or $1500 a summer for a lift slip.(my slip is approx 1/3 that amount). So I bought a $650 van, and take it out about 5 times a summer to acid wash the bottom. Only tow it 7 miles each way, never over 45mph. I've had the van 4 years and only put 4000miles on it. And over 1000 of that was a trip to Ohio to haul home a waterbed!
Here, this is the good side!

Hey, my bad BillyB...must have missed it somehow...

Nice looking set-up BillyB. I've got to respect a man who knows his priorities...I mean, the TV only GETS you to the water. But it's the boat that counts. ;\)

What kind of cover do you have over the bed of the Taco? I am looking to put one on mine
Waterlogged...Its an Access LE and I LOVE IT!
Got it from Truck alterations for 350 shipped.
It allows you to use the tie down cleats on the rail system too! Check out Toyotanation.com
Do a search for Access or tonneau. Goo info on the Taco over there.

I don't take too many pictures of the rig, but here is one from a recent trip.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a great deal. Also, that Toyotanation is great, thanks.

It has a blessing and a curse.

It is a 350!

It would be nice to have a 454 for the extra power, but I would hate the gass bill. The 350 only gets around 7mpg while towing so I can only imagine what a 454 would get.

I figured, a lot of those got 350s. Still a very capable engine for that rig.
Don't want to make you sad, but a 454 would get the same towing. Of course, it's non towing would probably only go up 1 or 2! Maybe?!
(My dad's 1997 2500 with the Vortec 7.4 got maybe 10 unladen, and got 8 pulling what is now my Chap 2135. It got 6 when towing his 1989 SeaRay 268)

Billy,

it didn't make me sad. It seems that most got 350's. I haven't seen too many with 454's. The upside to the 350 is parts can be had everywhere and can be had cheap. I can also rebuild the motor cost effectively.

This truck takes me up and down the Sierra Nevada range so I guess I can't complain. There are only a few spots that slow way down, but there are usually big rigs going slower than me.
