I own 3 SUVs and was wondering if I would own any of them if I didn't need to tow. Sports cars can be a lot of fun.

Don't own an SUV now, but probably would still consider owning one if we didn't tow. I like the versatility they offer.

Would definitely have a sports car for the summer months though. Can't beat a Corvette convertible for running around town and taking trips in, the newer ones - C4 and up - are very comfortable road-trip cars. Great gas mileage to boot!

Probably not. I'm getting the itch for a sports car again. I test drove the new Pontiac Solstice this weekend...sweet LOOKING car, but a total piece of doo doo. Plasticky, underpowered, and it had tranny issues (clutch rubbed and was too springy for a sports car). Plus our dealership is selling them about 30% OVER list. THey sold 3 in the last month, sight unseen...when the owners took delivery, one guy was 6 foot five and didn't fit in it, the other didn't know how to drive stick, and the 3rd developed medical problems and had to have more room for medical equipment. Insanity

Would not. Mostly because of gas prices.

Yes I would.
I fit in a truck.
I am 6-4 275 so a standard car leaves something to be desired. Like room.

Don't tow a boat, snowmobiles get towed, when there is snow We like our SUV's and will always have one. I will sell the older one now that we just bought a new Honda. It's not a sports car per say, but it is much more fun to drive than either SUV.

Yes, I had one long before I had a boat to tow.

Goes all the way back to the blizzard that hit when I was 16 and we lived a few miles outside of town. We were stuck at home for five days because we didn't have four wheel drive.

I vowed right then that when I got enough money I would have an SUV (or whatever we called them then) and I have had.

How is it that we have to choose between a SUV or a sports car? That was not the question in the poll?

I don't currently have a SUV. But high profile vehicles are nice for heavy city traffic. The really small SUVs don't interest me though.

Absolutely, I am on my second SUV now and it is a great all around vehicle for the family as well as boating. The only time I wish I would have my truck again is when I purchase those big items that will not fit in the back and I have to go get my trailer...

Before getting into boating, I mostly drove pick-ups and admiral (although she was just my wife back then) drove cars and minivans. If we didn't have boat, camper or utility & scout gear trailers to tow, I'd probably have a 1/2 ton truck and her a minivan.

If I didn't have this addiction to boating I would still have a pickup and the admiral would still have an SUV, but we would also be easily able to afford a sports car or two plus an old muscle car.

We have owned one SUV or another for the last 10 years. We only started towing last year.
Isn’t the SUV America’s family car?

Taking it out of the towing realm… I bet less than 10% of SUVs on the road actually tow anything.

Yes, for the family vehicle.

No, for me. I prefer to drive a car since I spend a lot of time running around for work.

We do not tow anymore...still own an SUV. Love driving it and having four wheel drive. It is only the two of us so don't need it for a family either. I think we will always have at least one.

My first thought was if I didn't have the boat I'd unload the truck in a heartbeat but thinking about it; just this week I made serval trips to the lumber yard to build a clubhouse for our son. Gotta love the utility of having a pick-up so I'm hooked. Will probably always have one...

Nope. It's nice but only use it for towing the boat. I prefer the better gas mileage of cars though.

No SUV, but a Crew Cab P/U with an 8 foot box will be in my driveway, whether I tow or not. Lots of hauling to to be done, firewood, lumber, etc.

The wife has a 12 passenger E350. It makes trips to OH to see my Family and to WI to see her family with the 3 kids and two dogs much easier. Nice for the June NASCAR race at MI Intl Speedway. We can take 12 people and all the tailgating stuff in one vehicle.

Interesting enough, it can also tow the boat.

I owned two, a GMC jimmy and a Jeep Cherokee. Didn't care for them but the ex wanted them, so heck, why not
We own two cars and a full size conversion van we use the van on trips, towing the boat and utility trailer. I much prefer a car, much better on the highway and in traffic ( For me )

I really like the new Toyota Tundra but can't see having more then one car payment at a time! But after I drive one that might change :p

Personally, no. I don't like driving them, I truly don't understand the mind set behind having them, and there are more "versatile" vehicles for today's environment (not green environment but driving environments). I drive a sedan, would prefer a coupe but whatever. The admiral drives the SUV, and loves it. I tell her without a boat, there is no reason for the SUV, therefore I think we will always have a boat. \:D Once we move up to a dockable vessel, the SUV will go unless it is "negotiated" into the new boat. I would, however, always have an AWD vehicle around, like a crossover, but not a true SUV.

Edit: just re-read this, didn't want to offend, not saying anyone who wants one shouldn't have one, just my opining as usual. sorry if it sounds like I'm bashing SUV drivers.
