It's official, I saw Christmas stuff out today, October 7, 2006.

Is it me, or is capitalism ruining Christmas?

Yep, I think I heard last year retailers were putting things out the earliest ever.

Looks like they're aiming to beat that record this year.... \:o

Pretty shameful......

They are putting it out now, because it works. There is a LARGE market segment out there that LOVES the Christmas season. My area has a local radio station that changes to an all Christmas format October 31st.

I have been in Home Depot, a Super Wal-Mart, Lowe's and a few other large department stores almost daily for the last two weeks.

I bought new Merry Christmas outdoor lights. This new to me style is called Holiday Home Accents LED Faceted Light Set. Bought at Home Depot. The light bulbs are bigger, brighter and a different looking shade of traditional colors.

I bought a new huge Holiday wreath for the door with singing and dancing reindeer.

I hope to be able to decorate 'Trick Out' the boat with lights, etc., and be in a Christmas parade on the water in Jacksonville, Fl this year, an overniter! \:\)

I have been doing a little bit each day in preparation for the holidaze season this year.

For some unknown reason to me this year, I'm really in the 'Christmas' spirit early.

I got out our Christmas music and have been playing it on our entertainment system.

One example: Click here and scroll down to hear Steel Drum Island Christmas Collection . As well as Jimmy Buffett and all the others.

Crazy? Ubetcha! I Love it So! No snow or ice! Hooray! After all these years, finally! Yes.

Gonna tow the boat to the keys during the winter. Ho! Ho! Ho! It would take me toooo long to take the ICW from here and back, due to weather, I believe.

Wow, yep, I am gonna miss attending the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectalcular Show this year and other New York/Philadelphia, PA (Mummers) area holiday season stuff.

Having FUN in the sun, hope y'all will join me in spirit! \:\)

Capitalism ruined xmas the minute aluminum trees showed up (about 1962?) Me, I just go with the flow...

Ever had ALL your xmas shopping done before halloween? It's WONDERFUL if you can. You can relax for the whole month between thanksgiving and xmas...

Yep, have it done before Halloween, before Thanksgiving, before (pick any date).....

I have a small family nowadays, only have to buy for a few folks, and they always appreciate cash!

Call me a Scrooge, I don't care. Kids are adults, no grand children, so find it kinda hard to get into any Christmas Spirit.

Sure, we celebrate it with my family, but I usually mostly give out money. Kinda started when the youngest moved to Florida - it was easier for him to put money in his wallet than haul a bunch of presents 1,200 miles.

My mom, can't get her anything she doesn't already have, so what could find to buy her would likely end up in a garage sale next year anyway.

So at least for us, Christmas is not the same as when the boys were younggins.

I wish Christmas felt like it did when I was a kid, but sadly it just doesn't. It's still my favorite time of year though. Of course it's in the middle of winter so what else is there to look forward to?

My wife does a great job of getting our shopping done early. It really does make a difference, as FR said, to be done and just relax through December.

Frantic and Al... you guys actually Christmas shop? Wow! I salute you! Kayak hubby goes to the local (crappy) mall Dec. 24 and buys me whatever he can find-- usually picked over.

Okay, I know I sound like a big beeeotch, but I do all the shopping and try to get him something unique. Perhaps an anchor for the kayak this year? (Just kidding)
