Well, I have learned how to hook it up, haul it, back it down the ramp, lauch it, retreive it, etc....but he is taking the tow vehicle! The festival is out of town so he is taking the SUV so he can sleep in it. He likes to "rough it" but prefers sleeping in the SUV instead of a tent, go figure! As far as getting the calendar marked for next year, I think it is already marked for the festivals. I hate it...but he loves his swordfighting! Hmph! \:\(

Alyxandre, here's some food for thought....

Give him some money for a hotel room and have him leave the tow rig at home! If you give him only enough money for a Motel 6 that will be roughing it about as much as sleeping in the back of the SUV.

If he really loved you, Alyxandre, he'd get a horse to ride to the reni.. rene.. renni.. the festival and leave you the tow vehicle. J/K.. no I'm not..
We're watching the OSU home-opener vs. Northern Illinois on Saturday, and hosting the remnants of Ernesto the rest of the weekend. If Monday looks ok, we might go out for a while, but there's definitely not enough boating time planned. Oh well, after Labor Day right on into November (usually), you can generally boat any time without it being crowded.
But for those on the road and on the water this weekend, please be careful out there!

THIS is what boatin's all about!

Sorry to hear you are going to be home this weekend. Just got my prop and skeg redone from my last attempt to plow a field of rocks!! This time I am heading to the south end of Grand Lake near the dam. No more farming for this boy!Perhaps a little deeper here and I hope they are thru planting mullet for the ducks. They dropped the lake 5 foot in one week. Of course we have had a lot of rain this last week so I hope it is back up. Going to check tomorrow and plug the value into my map program and if it show anything less than 6 foot I am staying away from there! Of course slowing from 45 MPH to allow the admiral to read the map might have helped last time!

Thursday night: ISU vs. Toledo, complete with tailgate. Go 'Clones!

Friday night: Roosevlet High vs. Ames in the new Drake University Stadium. Freshman son is an O-line guy on the freshman squad AND a euphonium player at varsity halftime. Redux of the last Roosevelt game played in the Drake Stadium in 1960.

Saturday: Early a.m. to Spirit Lake - on the boat all day, happy hour with BIL, sis and 88 yr old mom. Dinner out with a lake view. Probably a twilight cruise in the 293 on West Okoboji.

Sunday: Early a.m. coffee cruise on SL, tubing and skiing with Admiral and Son, Relaxed time. Evening cocktail cruise with (other) SIL and BIL, then a home-cooked meal.

Monday: More boat time, barbeque with a good spicy Zin. Lots of relaxing. Home late.

We'll leave the 262 and the Lund in 'til the last week of October. Fall fishing gets good, and fall cruises are fine with the bow cover on and the closeout door shut.

BTW, I didn't know they had SUVs in the Middle Ages!

Ok, I might be starting to feel better about this whole "poor me, can't go boating" issue this weekend. I am looking at the forecast and it doesn't look great...AT ALL!
Sat: 40% chance of rain, high 71.
Sun: 50% chance of rain, high 69.
Mon: 30% chance of rain, high 71.
Sounds like he might be a little cold and soggy by the time he makes it home.

On the bright side, gas is down to $2.34 right now! WOO HOO!

Heading out RV'n to Vail Lake RV Resort, Temecula CA. No boating, as Vail is a private, member only lake, and I aint no stinkin memeber. Good fun, just the same. ONe more trip to a local lake 9/16, then it's adios boating til next year!!

Have a safe fun weekend all you BABC'ers!

Used to fish at Vail Lake when I was a kid. It's now private??!!

What about Lake Henshaw? That was another favorite fishery as a kid.

Well we won't be boating here either --- but the reason isn't all bad -- we leave tomorrow morning from Miami for a 7 day cruise -- our first -- both my sons, their wives, and two grandkids will all be going --- hopefully all the weather has cleared for next week.

And besides --sorry I have to say it --- every weekend is a possible boating weekend when you live in Florida --

thanks

For those of you not doing anything this weekend, come on over! I need someone to hand me tools... and to grab my feet and pull me back out of the engine room when I'm done replacing a raw water pump gasket.

I hear you on the weather but we hope to be out on the 'toon on the Coralville mud lake yet this weekend and into October. The Pelicans are amassing as well as the Blue Herron. A few of the trees are just staring to show the signs of turning....smell the campfires. Each fall we gather folks from our offices and do fall foliage leaf cruises which start mid September and go each weekend the Cyclones are not at home. Stop at a beach and build a fire....roast whatever. They are a blast. However back to your point...today is sunny in eastern Iowa and the rain is not suppose to get here until late Saturday. Lots of time on the boat....and I am in the middle of putting a new transom in the bow rider so we shall see how much time I have.

I hope to drop the boat in the water in about 2 hours. If the weather cooperates, we will get a lot of boating in through Monday. Probably slip a new 4 blade prop on tomorrow and see how it does. Have a great weekend all! \:D

What do ya mean "won't be boating..." You're just gonna be on a BIGGER boat and being waited on. Sounds like the best of both worlds. have a great time....

Some game, eh? Your QB is a cool character with a good arm.

3OTs and ISU escapes 45-43!

Best of luck to the Rockets for the rest of the season. The MAC title is a real possibility
