C4W, I added 150' of chain to my all chain rode and used the kind of splice link that you posted the link to. If you buy the repair link in the same size as your regular chain links it goes through the windlass just like a regular chain link. I sug

I just use the tow/haul button. It still allows it to be in 6th, but the shift points are changed and I rarely get going fast enough to get it in 6th.

That 2bbl should work fine, might even be a direct replacment or at least it 'should fit' since you already have a Holley. Most Ford 2bbls are Autolite, and I'm sure Holley made their marine carb in '77 to fit Ford's existing manifold...

I own a stringer drive. It's not all that bad... One thing you must do with the stringer drive is know it's limitations and how to operate it properly. OMC made the Stringer drive for 30 years...so parts are available...and they are capable of giving
